Man Assaulted By SARS Officials For Using iPhone X In Suleja(Video)

Wisdom Obi-Eze has narrated how some officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) broke into his home to assault and arrest him simply because he was using an iPhone X.

Narrating his ordeal, the young man said that the SARS official broke into hi department around 2:00 am and destroyed his belongings after he refused to give them the bride they requested.

He said that they demanded N500,000 of which he couldn’t afford so he decided to go and give the phone back to the buyer and collect his money.

Wisdom posted a video of how his house was raided by this unidentified SARS officials and wrote;

SARS officers trying to extort money from me in Suleja Niger State.

Last week Monday the SARS officers came to my house by 9 pm to arrest me that I bought an iPhone X I was shocked because buying an iPhone is not a crime in Nigeria. After breaking the door they decided to negotiate and they were demanding 500,000 that night. I couldn’t afford it so I suggested we return my phone back to the buyer so I could collect back the same amount I bought it. They agreed and I was locked up in the police cell for the night in A’ division in suleja. … The next morning by exactly 7 am, the SARS officers brought me out of the cell so I could contact the store where I bought the phone so I could inform them that I was coming to get back my money which I did.

A few minutes later my parents informed the SARS officers that they were coming with a lawyer and they should sell my phone.
The officers panicked and were all trying to avoid involving a lawyer. When the lawyer arrived the officers pleaded and I was released before noon.

At the early hours of this morning at about 1 am, a couple of armed men came to my house and were trying to arrest me again this time they didn’t claim to be SARS officers all they said was that they were from Abuja with no ID card or arrest warrant insisting that I must be arrested and when my parents refused, they broke the door and started beating my entire family.

I refused to go with them so it ended in an ally of beating and they handcuffed one of my hands and I refused to let them handcuff both hands. It was a horrifying experience. We called the police station and the SARS officers from the previous setup came and identified those men as an officer but they didn’t say if they were from the police or SARS or any other paramilitary.
I managed to escape with one of the handcuffs. They all left around 4 am.

I really don’t know where to turn too because the system is corrupt and it needs to be fixed.
This is my experience.
