The Educational Union of Universities (ASUU), Chapter of the College of Ibadan, urged its members to not attend the establishment’s name.

ASUU in an announcement made out there to DAILY POST on Tuesday, requested its members to boycott the 2020 Name and the launching ceremonies of the muse of the College.

DAILY POST realized that the choice to boycott the summons can’t be disconnected from the Union’s ongoing strike.

ASUU President Professor Ayo Akinwole, in a signed assertion, stated the Union’s place is that holding convocation ceremonies is a violation of the precept of the continued strike.

Akinwole acknowledged that the union is restricted to “advising members to not attend or take part within the preparation and updating of the aforementioned name and the 72nd Basis Day Ceremony”.

It was discovered that the union additionally communicated its place by way of a letter written to the Vice President of the College, Professor Idowu Olayinka.

“We name consideration to the commencement announcement of the College of Ibadan 2020 and the 72 Basis Day ceremonies on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

“Within the spirit of the present ASUU strike, holding commencement ceremonies at the moment can be a violation of the precept of the continued strike to rescue public college schooling in Nigeria.

“So far as we all know, there was no waiver request for it to happen at Ibadan College.”
